With more than 70 institutions of higher education, Baden-Württemberg has a highly developed university landscape. In order to be able to compare the state’s universities with the other institutions of higher education of Germany and among themselves, the university ranking of the Centre for Higher Education Development (Centrum für Hochschulentwicklung; CHE) offers detailed, up-to date and objective information regarding almost each subject at every university in Germany.

When looking at the ranking, it is striking to find that so many of Baden-Württemberg’s universities enjoy an outstanding position in this evaluation. This is certainly due to the unique mixture of tradition, good financing and close connections with business and industry, which places the institution of higher education of the state in a profitable position.
