California USA Exchange

The California State University / Baden-Württemberg Student Exchange Program is based on an agreement between the German Federal State of Baden-Württemberg and the California State University System. This arrangement allows students from a wide range of academic backgrounds and disciplines to learn the German language in , experience living in a new culture and pursuing courses in their major area of study.
Through this program, California students are able to enroll in courses at one of the 18 participating
Baden-Württemberg institutions. Most CSU majors are offered, some examples include international relations, international business, political science, education studies, engineering, graphic design, as well as, art, liberal studies, linguistics and literature.

Baden-Württemberg:
- One semester or two quarters college-level German.
- Enrollment at a CSU campus or eligibility to enter from a California community college.
- Cumulative GPA of 2.75.
- Sophomore, upper division or graduate standing.
- IP is supported financially by the state of California and by the Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts, Baden-Württemberg. Students pay participation fees which cover a fraction of the cost.
- German students don’t have to pay tuition fees in order to study at one of the 23 campuses in California. However, a campus fee has to be paid per semester which differs depending on the campus of choice (average: 150 EUR). The campus fee is used to pay institutions on campus, such as security service, health service or maintenance.
- All campus financial aid is applicable (except work study)
- Ask for scholarship opportunities
- Students earn regular academic credit for all course work abroad.
- IP assists in international arrangements including academic planning, transportation, visas, housing, and other matters.
- Once abroad, students receive assistance from CSU resident staff and/or host institution staff.
- Field trip to Berlin
- Specially designed German Language courses for Beginner/Intermediate students
