Baden-Württemberg – Or to be more precise: the quaint historic town of Calw – where Hermann Hesse was born on July 2, 1877. He is one of the most widely read writers of the twentieth century, and the author of the novel Steppenwolf. What’s more, the region is home to many other famous men of letters, such as Friedrich Schiller, G.W. F. Hegel and Friedrich Hölderlin.
