Baden-Württemberg – In 2003, the region submitted 130 patent applications per hundred thousand inhabitants – a national record. However, Baden-Württemberg’s reputation as a land of inventors is no invention – it’s a result of many successful patent applicants, among them famous names such as Count Ferdinand von Zeppelin, Gottlieb Daimler, Robert Bosch and Johannes Kepler.
