International students “very satisfied” with their degree courses in Esslingen

International students at the Esslingen University of Applied Sciences taking part in an “International Student Barometer” survey have given “very good” marks for teaching and the living situation in Esslingen. In the category “Learning”, the University reports that 95 per cent of students are very satisfied with the "expert lectures". 92 per cent found the technical facilities to be good and the learning environment was evaluated as very good by 86 per cent of students. Lecture content and teaching staff received top grades from 85 and 81 per cent of students respectively ("good teachers").
Life in Esslingen, a town with around 100,000 inhabitants, was also given a “very good” mark by the international guests. Environmentally-friendly behaviour was considered to be very high by 91 per cent of respondents and safety in the town was regarded as very good by 90 per cent. Students were also happy with the hospitality the town offers as well as the ease with which friends could be made.
Students felt strongly supported by the General Student Committee, by the Society of the Friends of Esslingen University and by the local student societies. 90 per cent were full of particular praise for the help they received in the IT field as well as the advice provided by the International Office and the Graduate School. Students expressed significantly less satisfaction with just two factors: 50 per cent of students said they would have liked to have worked during their degrees. Around half of students would have appreciated more financial support.
The Esslingen University of Applied Science currently has around 5,600 students. The university offers over 23 Bachelor’s and 12 Master’s degree courses focusing on the fields of engineering, business administration, social science and the care professions in particular. The university is ranked among the top ten best universities of applied sciences in Germany by many business magazines.
