Summer School for international students on Lake Constance

International students can register today for a place at the Internationale Bodenseehochschule’s Summer School. The four week course which will be held at the IBH in Konstanz in August 2009 offers intensive language training in German as a foreign language and an attractive complementary programme on the history, culture and politics of the Lake Constance region. The Summer School will accept visiting students from the 27 IBH institutions of higher education as well as international students who envisage studying at one of these 27 institutions sometime in the future. The registration period ends on April 30 2009.

“Our aim is to give students a memorable and positive impression of the Lake Constance region in the hope that, after they have graduated in their home countries, many of them will return here to work as qualified professionals,” explains the project coordinator Dr. Hans-Joachim Knopf from the Universität Konstanz. The IBH is a network of universities and institutions of higher education in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein. Apart from the three research universities in Konstanz, St. Gallen and Zurich, several universities of applied sciences and universities of education participate in the IBH. The IBH offers ten degree courses reaching across various universities. Research benefits from excellent cooperation with regional companies in the area.

The Summer School accepted students for the first time in 2005 and has grown in popularity ever since. The school has become something of a multicultural melting pot. Last year alone more than 100 students attended the school from 44 different countries.
