New German-Indian sensor engineering programme launched
The Hochschule Karlsruhe – Technik und Wirtschaft is now beginning a double degree programme in sensor engineering with the VIT University in Vellore, south India, with whom they have had an intensive relationship for several years. The course imparts knowledge and skills that are necessary to develop and use sensory systems – from natural sciences and electronics to informatics and microprocessor usage. The objects include physical, bio- and chemical sensors and their technologies as well as their possibilities of use in vehicles, medicine and environmental technology.
To date, this is the only German-Indian double degree course promoted by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). Students from both institutions will spend half of their degree course duration at the partner institution abroad. After successfully completing the 4-semester course, students are awarded with the German MSc and Indian MTech. Students can apply for scholarships from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
The Master degree course in Sensor Systems Technology has been offered at the Hochschule Karlsruhe – Technik und Wirtschaft for the last ten years. The course has always been oriented to students abroad and has been taught in English. In 2005 it was accredited as being “research-oriented”, underlining its quality.
