Sport from your armchair and around the world!
The English language Master’s degree course "International Studies in Sport Sciences - IS³" at the Universität Konstanz has received accreditation. This new and innovative degree course, which will begin in April 2009, is expected to attract international students from all corners of the globe. The course is the very first of its kind in Germany – the first English language degree in sports sciences.
Teaching elements of the course include a new didactic model. The degree course has a duration of four semesters. Students are to spend two practical semester in Konstanz as the first semester is a distance-learning course and the last semester, which includes the writing of a Master’s thesis in coordination with a supervisor, can be spent at nearly any location in the world. In addition, the course consists of compact courses in which highly-qualified teaching staff, not only at the Universität Konstanz but also guest-lecturers and lecturers from other universities, will offer students well-grounded teaching with many opportunities to specialise.
The distance-learning section will be set up with software which enables students to participate in the course from their own countries and from early on students will be able to have contact with fellow-students all over the world. This internationalisation is part of a parallel project undertaken at the Universität Konstanz which aims to network students with each other and familiarise them with the technology used for international computer-assisted work.
Prerequisites for the course include a good knowledge of the English-language and good pass at Bachelor degree level. The course allows 20 students and applicants may apply till 15th February 2009.
