While Karlsruhe is already accepting applications for its new Franco-German mechanical engineering and mechatronics programmes, the European School of Business (ESB) in Reutlingen is preparing a German-Polish programme, which it intends to offer as of next year.

Students from Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences and the French École Nationale Supérieure de Mécanique et des Microtechniques (ENSMM) in Besançon have been able to opt for a binational degree programme in mechanical engineering or mechatronics since the beginning of the year. The programme includes supplementary language courses and other measures to prepare students for the move to the partner school, so rusty language skills are not an insurmountable hurdle. Moreover, students get financial support by the Franco-German university. The deadline for applications for the 2008/09 winter semester is the 15th of July 2008. Due to the co-operation between the two universities, a Franco-German vehicle technology programme has already been operating since 1995.

The European School of Business in Reutlingen at Reutlingen University has concluded a partnership agreement with Jagiellonian University in Krakow. The renowned Polish university was founded in 1364, making it one of the oldest educational institutions in Europe. The objective of the partnership is the creation of a German-Polish BSc International Management programme to be launched in 2009 with ten German and Polish students each. Reutlingen already offers comparable binational BSc International Management programmes in cooperation with France, Great Britain, Mexico, Ireland, Italy, Spain and the United States. Graduates receive a dual degree. This educational concept has demonstrated its value over the past 30 years in the International Partnership of Business Schools (IPBS): young business students spend two years each at home and abroad, receiving bilingual preparation for a management career in enterprises with international reach.
