The economies of Switzerland, France and Germany are tightly intertwined and the importance of cross-border cooperation in the region where the three countries meet is growing steadily. Employees with technological expertise and an understanding of the cultures, mentalities and languages of the other countries are rare and in demand in many companies.
The new trinational
Information Communication Systems (ICS) bachelor’s programme, which will be launched in the 2008/2009 winter semester, is designed to address those needs.
Furtwangen University of Applied Sciences in Germany,
Université de Haute Alsace in Mulhouse and Colmar, France and the
University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland in Windisch and Brugg are offering an integrated programme for young people with basic language skills in French and German. Students completing it will be awarded a Bachelor of Science degree. The programme is intended as a vocational qualification and can serve as a prerequisite for admission to an M.Sc. programme. Admissions requirements for the bachelor’s programme vary according to the student’s country of origin, with valid qualifications including the Bac S or STI in France, the certificate of aptitude for specialized short-course higher education (Fachhochschulreife) in Germany and the Berufsmatura in Switzerland. Deadlines for application are the 15th of July for the following winter semester and the 15th of January for the following summer semester.
