Survey of HR specialists: south-western universities are tops
Around 5,000 HR experts and recruiters were polled for the university ranking. Its objective: to determine where students of business administration, economics, law, industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science and business data processing receive the best preparation for their careers. For the first time, the poll was carried out jointly by the business magazines WirtschaftsWoche and Junge Karriere and the business daily Handelsblatt. Overall, the managers polled stated that the outlook for the current crop of graduates was promising. Over 90 percent described their job perspectives as positive.

The method:
The university ranking focuses on practical relevance. To determine the best universities, over 5,000 HR managers from a variety of industries were surveyed. The majority of those polled belong to companies with 1,000 or more employees. The survey was carried out in early 2008. For each subject, the experts chose up to five universities or universities of applied sciences that were highly rated by their companies. The questions also examined the job perspectives, preferred subjects and desired qualifications of applicants.
