IT researchers introduce applications and business ideas for the medical and healthcare sectors
Invent, write a business plan, procure capital – and then gauge the market response. That is the approach typically taken by researchers. Thanks to the Heidelberg Innovation Forum, a platform is now available on which scientists and market players can network at an earlier stage. It supports researchers and developers in sounding out the market and searching for suitable investors and partners. Students and young researchers are given the opportunity to observe how market-ready research work is best managed.
The event lets researchers communicate their business ideas to a broad audience of scientists and entrepreneurs – the only restriction is a ten-minute time limit for their presentations. The response is a clear indicator of whether a concept is ready for the market or not. The presentations, which are held in English, are accompanied by an exhibition. All of the innovations can thus be viewed up close at leisure. The range of solutions presented this time range from implantation robots to digital emergency assistants and virtual training systems for surgeons.
The Innovation Forum is held twice a year and has been organized by the Medien- und Filmgesellschaft (MFG) Baden-Württemberg in co-operation with the European Media Laboratory (EML) since 2005.
